Anemia Clinic

Anemia is a condition in which one’s body doesn’t produce enough red blood cells or hemoglobin. This reduces the body’s ability to carry oxygen in the bloodstream.

Common symptoms of anemia are weakness or fatigue, shortness of breath during physical activity, and, sometimes, the inability to concentrate. There are several different types of anemia, and it can be temporary or long term, ranging from mild to severe.

Knoxville Kidney Center’s Anemia Clinic offers comprehensive anemia-related services, including:

  • Assessment of patient’s anemia
  • Administration of intravenous iron medication, if needed
  • Maintenance and monitoring of patient’s anemia
  • Use of Erythropoetin medications when indicated to stimulate red blood cell maturation
